Even though we want to hibernate in our homes during the colder months, we need to continue to find ways to connect! Here’s five creative, inexpensive, and fun friend dates to try until the warmer months come.
Thrifty and Nifty
I am a newb to thrifting but some of my friends are thrifting fashionistas. So, I grabbed one of my more experienced thrifter-friend and headed up to Boulder for lunch and some shopping. Boulder is full of some fantastic second-hand boutiques so we hit the jackpot at Crossroads Trading.
As we looked for some work apparel and Valentine’s day outfits we laughed at the things that didn’t fit and showed off the prize-winning outfit combinations.
Coffee Shop Crawl
Here’s your chance to have THE epic coffee date. Choose three coffee shops that you have never visited and bring some paper with you. On your paper, you are going to rate your experience on a scale from 1-5 at each shop. Pick categories like: atmosphere, coffee/tea quality, pastries, music and so on. Try new things, have some quality conversation and at the end look to see which shop got the highest ratings! Now you found a new favorite coffee date location!
Serve Together
Serving together is bonding together. Have a friend date to serve your people. Bake cookies and pass them around the neighborhood. Make a meal for a friend in need. Get together and write letters to family members. There’s lots of fun ways to share stories, get creative and love others.
Book Shop Search
I have a bit of an obsession with visiting bookstores. Perusing the aisles with friends is an added bonus. Put a fun twist on the adventure and pick a book out for the other friend to read. Find a corner and explain why you want your friend to read this particular book. Learn more about each other’s tastes, ideas and interests.
Run, Forest, Run!
Endorphins, fresh air, no phones. This is the perfect friend date to unplug and give your full attention to catching up on life. Sometimes a walk is better but for you more athletic-conscious maybe a nice 4 mile run with a friend is the exact motivation you need to meet those health goals and friend goals.
Netflix and Chili
If you love cuddling up indoors then this is a “punny” way to gather people for dinner and a show. Make a big batch of chili, find a favorite show and invite people over to enjoy with you. Personally, I require the the dress code to be pajamas so we are all comfy and comfy together.
